Alex Huerta, new coach of Izarra

Izarra has confirmed the arrival of Alex Huerta to its bench. The Soriano coach arrives to replace Txiki Akaz and has signed until the end of the seasonwith a possible extension, depending on the performance, which the club itself saves.

“Of what they presented to me was the one that I thought was the most convenient for his way of playing“, he pointed out Alfonso Cinnamonpresident of Izarra, who added that the previous season he had made “a very good tournament” with Numancia, two factors that tipped the balance towards the Soriano coach.

Another of the names that was on the table was the return of Rodri Fernandez de Barrena, who left the bench for personal reasons. The good start to the season under Rodri’s orders led the Izarra board to propose his return, but the coach rejected the proposal due to his employment situation.

Huerta has one year of experience on the bench under the orders of the Numantia where he trained the Pajaritos team for half a season. He has spent more than a decade linked to the Soria entity, being a coach in almost all the lower categories.

Next week he will take charge of the Merkatondoa team, replacing Jon Ander Unanua, who will direct the Izarra this Sunday (6:00 p.m.) against Real Sociedadad C. Estella’s team occupies eighth place with 33 points, two behind play-off of ascent.
